Can I provide you with a design and have you build it for me?
We can, but we prefer to be involved in the design process if possible. If a design is impractical or an alternative could save you money, we like to let you know so you have the best options to choose from.
Which kitset companies do you work with?
We’re an authorised agent for Sheds Direct and ModBox and can put together the designs on our plans page for you.
How long does the building process take?
The building process can vary widely depending on your land including ground and soil composition, slope, electricity and water access, and so on. The best way to get an accurate estimate is to let us know the address and then have us visit and research the land.
With the new building exemptions, can I get a modular home built on my own land without a building consent?
Yes and no. It’s true that as of 31 August 2020 you can build a shed or sleepout without a building consent, but if you want plumbing or electrical in it, that will still require one.
I’d like you to build a home for me but I’m outside of your standard service area. Would that still be possible?
We’re willing to travel, but keep in mind that there will be extra costs associated if we have to travel outside of Southland/Otago. The best way to find out if we’re still a good fit is to get in touch.
If there’s a design I like in a prefab home but I want to make some small changes, is that possible?
Yes, Sheds Direct for instance includes the shell of the house, but the inside can be modified to suit your needs. We can help you custom the home the way you like.
What if I decide I need to change something partway through the build?
Depending on what stage the build is at, it could be possible without much trouble. If we are deep into the process, changes will incur an additional cost of materials and labour.
Can you build on any kind of land—steepness, rocky, etc?
If it’s possible to build a house on the land, we can build it! Some land may require more preparation than others, which will require more work to get it ready to build.
Are there any guarantees with my build?

Can you build commercial or rural buildings?
We can do light commercial builds as well as farm buildings. We may not be the best for larger industrial builds, but get in touch with us first; if it’s not right for us we can refer you to a quality builder who can do the job for you.
