WANAKA LAKEVIEW HOLIDAY PARK
Project Overview
BRIEF: Need to service 1000 people. Needs 2 kitchens, spa, sauna. 26 Showers and 26 toilets. HUGE JOB. Very challenging.
One of our largest and more challenging projects to date was building the for the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park. This impressive build was made to service 1000 people, and required 2 separate kitchens, a spa, a sauna, and 26 showers. Needless to say, there was plenty of plumbing work required too. This came with its own set of challenges, as there were several times we had to improvise and replan like when we had to find extra space for a 3000L tank for hot water storage!
We ended up having to knock down the existing building and had an engineer reassess the land who found that there were some adjustments needed before we could rebuild on the land. When we did go ahead and do the build, this project used the QuickFab SIPS Panel System, a material where the insulation comes pre-installed between connectable exterior panels. This allows for unmatched thermal efficiency since there’s no holes for air to escape through.
During this project, we ran into several obstacles and had to push out the original goal of Labour Weekend to a hard deadline of Christmas 2016. One of the challenges was the electrical work—we had to plan everything ahead of time because there was a limit to the number of cables that could be run. But we did it, finishing up on the afternoon on Christmas Eve, just in time for the busiest time of the year!
